Seminar “Between Molecules, People, and Mentalities: My Story Across Three Scientific Cultures” Held

18.10.2025

On Friday, October 17, 2025, the seminar titled “Between Molecules, People, and Mentalities: My Story Across Three Scientific Cultures” was held at the Faculty Building, Classroom CZ04, with Dr. Mustafa Safa Karagöz as the guest speaker. The event took place from 14:00 to 15:00 and attracted significant interest from participants.

Dr. Karagöz, an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of molecular biology and computational biology, shared his experiences across different scientific cultures. After completing his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Turkey, he pursued his Ph.D. at Technische Universität Braunschweig in Germany, focusing on bacterial pathogens and human tissue/lung models. Later, he conducted postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States on RNA regulation, AI-assisted peptide design, and human iPSC models.

In his talk, he discussed his research journey that spans from laboratory experiments to large-scale computational modeling, emphasizing his integrative approach combining experimental biology and high-performance computing (HPC). He also reflected on the challenges of international academic applications and interviews, as well as the lessons learned throughout his scientific career.

The seminar provided young researchers with an inspiring perspective on interdisciplinary science and was met with great interest by the audience.
